Sunrise Medical Quickie Life F Teens Folding Wheelchair

Quickie's Life F Teens is a folding wheelchair designed for teenagers. It is available with smaller seat sizes to fit an adolescent's body size and needs, while the high levels of adjustability make it ideal for children and teenagers, as it can be adapted to developing wheelchair skills and changing needs.

Product Description

Seating

A teenage version of the popular Quickie Life F, the Life FT is available in smaller seat widths of 28 - 50 cm, and depths of 32 - 46 cm. The seating can be set up precisely to fit your child, and every aspect of it can be customised, from the cushion and backrest to the sideguards and footrests. The front frame is available as either a lighter fixed front or with swing-away legrests that facilitate easier transfers. The popular Safari brake sideguards are available on the Life FT, which are carefully integrated into the skirtguard to allow safe braking without the need to lean forward.

Adjustability

Ideal for children and teenagers, the Life FT is highly adjustable so it can be adapted to meet changing needs and improving wheelchair control skills. Adjustments include the centre of gravity, seat height, camber and more - many of these don't require additional parts either.

Frame and Transport

The Life has a range of lightweight and high-tech customisation options cascaded down from these models, such as Nitrum-style carbon fibre sideguards and foot platform. This weight reduction helps to minimise the energy needed for everyday activities, reducing the load on your child's shoulders, arms and hands.

The Life range is a popular choice in the NHS for its robust, long-established design. It is fully crash tested, and has a simple folding mechanism for ease of transport in a car.

Style

As you would expect of a Quickie chair, the Life FT is an attractive wheelchair, and can be customised from a wide range of frame colours and highlights.

Our Verdict

The Sunrise Medical Quickie Life F Teens Folding Wheelchair is a good first active chair for teenagers looking to develop their wheelchair skills. When budget allows we would suggest considering Ki Mobility's Rogue XP instead, as this offers a much lighter mono-tube frame that makes self-propelling easier. The Rogue XP also features seat width and depth growth, ensuring it'll continue to fit after growth spurts - the Life FT lacks this feature.
