National Manual Wheelchair Hire

When we were first established, we found that many healthcare professionals found it hard to recommend a cost-effective supplier providing quality mobility equipment that could promptly meet their customers’ needs. Wheelfreedom therefore pioneered national manual wheelchair hire with next-morning delivery, and our service is now recommended by hospitals and other healthcare professionals across the country.

We offer a hospital delivery service allowing patients a seamless and speedy discharge from the hospital. Our equipment includes lightweight foldable manual wheelchairs with options for elevating leg rests, and both paediatric and bariatric solutions in a range of sizes. Manual wheelchair hires often do not require an assessment.

If you would like a supply of patient information leaflets or an information poster please contact us with your details and we can send these out to you.

Mobility Assessments

Each physique and health condition is unique with varying factors influencing body shape and mobility. As a result, different mobility equipment would vary in its support to each individual. During an assessment, the patient’s posture, range of motion, strength and health condition would be evaluated to determine their needs. The assessor will speak to the patient about their lifestyle and mobility goals, and if they have previous experiences with mobility products such as powerchairs or wheelchairs.

During an assessment, the patient will receive a product demonstration and try the product themselves. Commonly, adjustments are discussed during an assessment to optimise comfort and functionality. In some cases, there might be more than one assessment. Once a mobility product has been carefully tailored to best optimise the patient’s lifestyle, mobility and comfort, the product will be handed over to the patient.

Clinical Services

We offer highly tailored prescriptive powerchairs for users with complex health needs such as scoliosis, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and other physical conditions. Powerchairs offer functional features excellent for patients who require pressure care or have greater postural and mobility needs; depending on the patient’s needs the powerchair can include reclining, tilt-in-space, standing and elevating leg rest functions. Patients unable to control a joystick can opt for our range of special controls to operate a powerchair using their chin, foot, head or tongue.

We can provide modular and custom-moulded seats if the patient requires a specialised seat. Our clinical assessors build specialised seats based on the patient’s unique needs and goals. Alternative solutions involve the 24-hour posture management approach, which involves choosing the right equipment and positioning to best facilitate comfort and functionality throughout the day.

By combining our expertise with our range of specialist equipment from leading manufacturers, we provide a carefully configured mobility solution to optimise your comfort.

Account Management

We provide an end-to-end solution dealing with all deliveries, collections and maintenance of patients' equipment whilst always being on hand to answer their questions. While providing an efficient and first-class service to the patient, this also removes nearly all of the administrative burden from our account holders. Accounts can be structured in a way to suit your organisation - please speak to one of the accounts team on 0203 058 1042 to discuss your needs further.
