Carbon Frame
Progeo's Noir 2.0 is formed from a single ultra-light and ultra-strong carbon frame that provides the ultimate levels of stiffness and rigidity, giving you the most responsive ride you'll experience. Each Noir is bespoke moulded around you to match your size and enhance your lifestyle. This means the Noir doesn't have the adjustability of more basic wheelchairs, so is best suited to experienced wheelchair users who know their preferred seating set-up and want to benefit from its enhanced performance and weight savings.
Power Add-ons
Such is Progeo's confidence in the strength of the Noir 2.0's frame that it is the only carbon-framed wheelchair whose manufacturer will endorse attaching powered add-ons to it - on any other model it will invalidate the warranty. This is a game-changer, as typically if you wanted to benefit from the extreme lightness of a carbon framed wheelchair plus the performance of a handbike, SmartDrive or E-Motion wheels, you would need a second wheelchair.
Italian Style
Italy is known for beautifully-designed products, and the elegance of the Noir 2.0's frame is a standout example of this. The sleek carbon frame can be personalised with a variety of finishes from glossy to opaque, and with a dramatic accent colour - the glossy blue essence finish is what we've chosen for our showroom model, and it truly stands out from all the other wheelchairs on display. Nothing comes close to matching the Noir's looks.
Personalisation
It's not just the frame of the Noir that can be customised for you - every aspect of the wheelchair can be. All the premium options you would expect are available on the Noir - Spinergy wheels, sports castors, carbon fibre sideguards, and discreet brakes. A carbon rigid seat is available as an alternative to the traditional fabric sling which tends to sag and fray over time. For those with postural requirements, Progeo's AIR integrated backrests can be fitted, and with a carbon shell, help to keep the weight of your Noir to a minimum.
Our Verdict
The Progeo Noir 2.0 Wheelchair is by far the most impressive and advanced active wheelchair in our range. The cost does reflect this - but the style and strength of the Noir's ultra-light frame are truly worth it.
There are one or two carbon fibre wheelchairs with lighter headline weights, such as Quickie's Krypton R, but its adjustable frame doesn't have the same responsiveness of the Noir, and nor does it have the strength to attach power add-ons to it. We would always recommend trying multiple wheelchairs before making a decision which one to get, and the Krypton and Progeo's carbon Duke are certainly impressive models - but nothing come close to what the Noir can offer.
