Lightweight Rigid Frame
The Progeo Joker Wheelchair features a highly adjustable yet lightweight aluminium frame. It features Progeo's patented rear axle adjustment via an aluminium plate rather than a traditional "tower" - saving weight and providing a sleeker appearance. This also comes with removable mudguards as standard - a cost option on most other wheelchairs. This can then be upgraded to a carbon fibre rear adjustment plate to further save on weight.
Adjustments available include front and rear seat height - the former via the distinctive castor arms - centre of gravity, backrest position, and the centre of gravity. This ensures that your Joker can be tweaked over time to continually suit your requirements, particularly important for those newer to active wheelchairs.
Options
The Joker is built to your size following an assessment from one of our specialists, and can be customised with a vast array of options - upgrades include Spinergy wheels, ergonomic handrims, sports castor wheels, and push handles.
Of particular note is the split flip-up footplates available on the "Joker Zero" variant, which allows for easy forward transfers - unique in a rigid wheelchair.
Style
The Joker has a distinctive silhouette, a combination of the V-shape front frame, the unique castor arms, and rear axle plates. It has the elegant styling you would expect from Italian design, and can be personalised with a wide choice of frame and accent colours.
Our Verdict
The Joker is an impressive rigid-framed active wheelchair, light, responsive and good-looking. Most people will opt for the Joker R2 now, a newer special edition of the Joker that has a redesigned front frame and rear axle that save weight and maximise rigidity - however, the original Joker remains a viable option, especially for those with a more limited budget or who are newer to active wheelchairs.
The Joker sits alongside similar high end aluminium active wheelchairs such as Ki Mobility's Rogue 2 and Quickie's Nitrum, which are worth comparing to the Joker.
