Progeo Exelle Wheelchair

The Exelle is a light, folding wheelchair designed for active use. Highly adjustable, it is ideal for those looking to move up from a basic wheelchair into one that can help them develop their wheelchair skills.

Product Description

Folding Frame

The Exelle is Progeo's original wheelchair, featuring a smartly-designed folding frame that offers enduring reliability. The particular shape of the reinforced crossbar provides a very rigid feel when propelling, as well as being particularly narrow when folded.

The fixed front frame helps to keep weight down compared to the heavier swing-away legrests found on the Exelle Vario, and reduces energy lost to "flex" in the frame, making it easier to propel.

The seat frame is in aluminium as standard, but can be upgraded to titanium if desired to save on weight. Titanium is also a stronger material, and helps to dampen vibrations from wheeling over uneven surfaces.

Adjustability

Each Exelle is built to order, and is available in multiple configurations, allowing it to provide a perfect fit, as well as matching your lifestyle and postural needs. The highly adjustable frame allows for further changes to the setup of the chair over time, particularly ideal for those newer to wheelchairs who may want the configuration changed to become more "active" as they develop their skills. This is also helpful for those whose condition may change, as the modular nature ensures the Exelle can be adapted to cater to your ongoing seating requirements.

Personalisation

As you would expect from a Progeo chair, the Exelle can be customised both in form and function. 10 frame colours are available, as well as a range of accents for the castor forks and rear wheels. The Exelle really is a stylish wheelchair that can be built with a sporty or elegant look. Almost every part of the wheelchair can be customised, including rear wheels, castors, footplate, sideguards, push-handles and more, and our assessors are on-hand to advise which would best suit your needs.

Our Verdict

The Progeo Exelle Wheelchair is a well-designed folding chair, roughly equivalent to Ki Mobility's Catalyst 5; it's a step up from entry level active folding chairs, but not quite as lightweight as some of the higher-end models. If your budget can stretch further, we would suggest looking at Progeo's Tekna Advance - the next chair up in their range, which is lighter, and has a much cleaner look thanks to its discreet cross-brace design.
