With its modern, stylish design, the Pride Apex Lite Mobility Scooter offers several improvements over the Go Go Elite Traveller 4. A charging point on the tiller allows those who struggle to bend down to easily plug the scooter in for charging, while the battery box can still be lifted off for charging elsewhere, should you wish to keep the scooter in a car or scooter shed. The Apex Lite is simple to disassemble, coming apart into five pieces, the heaviest of which is just 15 kg - this means it can be lifted into and out of a car for convenient transport and storage.
Designed for short journeys, such as around the shops, the Apex Lite has 8 inch wheels at both front and back, giving a better ride than the Go Go. It does, however, lack the suspension found on the more advanced Apex Rapid, and should be used on pavements and other flat, solid surfaces only. The top speed of 4 mph is equivalent to a brisk walking pace, ideal for accompanying friends and family when out and about. The front basket allows easy transport of items.
The padded seat can rotate sideways to make it easier to get on and off the scooter, and the armrests can be width adjusted. The Apex Lite has an enhanced weight capacity of 21.4 stone (136 kg), although we would caution that those over about 15 stone get limited performance from basic boot scooters.
Verdict
With its modern appearance, the Apex Lite is a stylish scooter available in your choice of black or blue. It is ideal for those after a simple, reliable transportable scooter from a trusted manufacturer. An alternative to look at is the more affordable but less portable Pride Go Go E.
