Motion Healthcare Foldalite Powerchair

The lightest model in Motion Healthcare's Foldalite range, the Foldalite is a good value light, folding powerchair. Weighing just 25 kg and featuring a Lithium battery, it include surprisingly advanced features such as a digital LCD joystick.

Product Description

The Motion Healthcare Foldalite Powerchair can be easily folded for transportation, and stood up and wheeled for storage. It weighs just 25 kg, allowing it to be lifted into the back of a car and includes Lithium batteries as standard. The batteries can be removed allowing on or off-board charging.

The digital LCD joystick can be fitted onto either armrest, or the backrest for an attendant to control. The joystick includes a USB charging socket as well as three different control sensitivities to use around different environments.

Extremely compact, the Foldalite manoeuvres well indoors and can also be used outdoors - although this is limited to flat paved surfaces, and it does lack the suspension and pneumatic tyres featured on some folding powerchairs.

The backrest is tension adjustable and can be set in different positions to provide the right level of comfort and support. The Foldalite comes with an underseat storage bag, and multi-position knee protectors, and is available in your choice of silver and blue.

The weight capacity is 18 stone, and the seat is 15 inches wide - but with 19 inches of space between the armrests. Those closer to the weight capacity will find the Foldalite Pro's larger capacity and wider seat offer more comfort.

Our Verdict

The Foldalite range is well-known as good quality folding powerchairs. The ability to mount the joystick for an attendant is a useful unique feature, as are the multiple drive provides on the digital joystick.

We think the Foldalite is a good choice for those looking for a step up in performance and comfort over the similarly priced Aerolite. However, if you are able to accept the chair being just a little bit heavier, the Foldalite Pro and Pride's iGo Plus both offer better comfort and outdoor performance.
