There are two versions of the Invacare Rea Dahlia Tilt in Space Wheelchair:
Dahlia 30 - with 30° tilt, and available as either a transit or self-propelled wheelchair. This has the option for exceptionally low seat heights - from just 32.5 cm, ideal for those who are foot propelling.
Dahlia 45 - with 45° tilt for the highest levels of clinical pressure relief, available only as a transit wheelchair. This is only marginally more expensive than the Dahlia 30, so we would generally recommend it unless needing to self or foot propel.
Design
The Dahlia is a more modern design than the other models in the Rea range - notable first for its sleeker appearance. The Dahlia has recently been updated with black tyres (not pictured) giving it a more modern appearance.
Compact width
A key improvement is also the compact width of the chair - it is as slim as an active wheelchair, making it easier to manoeuvre and letting it fit through tight spaces. The narrow footprint also means the wheelchair takes up less space in the home when not in use.
Seating
The seating is just as configurable as the Rea Azalea, able to be adjusted to provide a perfect fit for the whelchair user, and with a wide selection of seating and positioning options to maximise comfort and support. This includes the popular Flex 3 backrests, but also more advanced Matrx backs, as well as being able to accommodate third-party seating systems.
Our Verdict
The Dahlia is the pinnacle of Invacare's tilt in space wheelchairs, offering the best form, function, and clinical benefit. While the Rea Azalea normally suits most patients - and is what care and medical support staff are most familiar with - for those with higher-end pressure relief needs, or who want to foot propel, the Dahlia is the ultimate choice. We would recommend considering it alongside Ki Mobility's equivalent, the Focus CR.
