An upgrade on the regular Zest, the Zest Plus features a larger chassis, bigger wheels and higher capacity batteries. This larger size is ideal for taller people who struggle with the limited legroom on regular boot scooters, while the weight capacity is an increased 23 stone (150 kg). The Zest Plus also offers further stability, while the batteries give it a lengthy range of up to 18 miles, outdistancing other boot scooters. It should be noted, though, that the increased size does mean that the Zest Plus generally will not be allowed on buses, as it is too large.
If you need to transport your scooter from place to place, it can be easily dismantled into six pieces, and lifted into the back of a car. The battery cleverly splits in two, making each one manageable, rather than having to lift both at once. It should be noted that the split battery box means that it cannot be charged off board, in contrast to most other boot scooters. The increased size of the scooter does also make it slightly heavier to lift than a regular boot scooter.
All the luxury features of the standard Zest are present on the Plus too, including full front and rear suspension to cushion your ride, and the wraparound ergonomic delta handlebars with lightweight thumb controls. The seat rotates to make standing up and sitting down easy, while the armrests are width adjustable. The Zest Plus can be supplied with a choice of six stylish colours - red, blue, green, orange, white and silver, and comes as standard with a headlight to ensure visibility. It also comes with a market-leading three year warranty.
Our Verdict
The Zest Plus is an impressive scooter that will appeal to either taller people needing extra legroom or those that want to make longer journeys, but who still want to be able to transport their scooter in a car from time to time. Its nearest equivalent is Pride's Revo 2.0, which is a slightly larger transportable scooter with a higher weight capacity, but a shorter range than the Zest Plus.
The major advantage of the Revo is that you can charge its batteries off-board, which allows you to store the scooter in a place that doesn't have a charging port (e.g. a shed or car boot). The Zest Plus requires an additional charging adaptor to be purchased to enable this.
