Transport
The aluminium frame of the Rascal VelumiLi Mobility Scooter makes it the lightest ever Rascal scooter, weighing just 28.8 kg overall with the battery removed. It can be quickly and easily disassembled into five pieces that will fit into the back of almost every car, with the heaviest piece weighing just 10.2 kg. This makes it much lighter than conventional steel-framed scooters that usually weigh around 50% more than this.
Lithium Battery
A British-made Lithium Ferro-Phosphate battery pack features on the VelumiLi, assuring you of its quality and reliability. Such is the confidence of its manufacturers in the battery that it is warranted for 2 years - other scooter manufacturers don't warranty their batteries for longer than a single year.
Airline compliant, the VelumiLi can be taken on planes for air travel - ideal for holiday use. The battery pack is also light, at just 4 kg, making it a breeze to lift.
When it comes to charging your scooter, you can either remove the battery to charge it separately, or plug your charger into the tiller-mounted port - ideal for those that struggle to bend down to reach the battery box.
Driving
The VelumiLi is a compact, slimline scooter, easy to manoeuvre even around indoor spaces such as shops. It features a top speed of 4 mph and while the scooter does not have suspension, it has dual compound 8 inch tyres designed to soften the bumps out of your ride.
Our Verdict
We like the VelumiLi - it's a modern looking scooter, with a choice of five colours (yellow, green, pink, blue and orange). You can get a little more comfort on an equivalent aluminium-framed scooter with suspension, such as the Alumina or Apex Alumalite Plus, but the soft tyres do still give a good ride.
The biggest attraction to the scooter for us is the two year warranty on the battery - you don't get this on other scooters, and it gives you reassurance that it's a high-quality and reliable product.
