Power Base
The X850 Corpus 3G Powerchair is the off-roader in Permobil's range; big, rugged and powerful. It's for people who want a high performance powerchair for outdoor use - long drives, high speeds, and challenging terrain.
It features big wheels with chunky treads, full independent suspension, powerful and a robust bumper. The long wheelbase provides great stability, and a powered extendable wheelbase is available as an upgrade for those looking to tackle the roughest ground.
Large 97 Ah batteries provide an impressive range of up to 28 miles on a single charge - great for those long days out.
Seating
The Corpus 3G seating on the X850 is fully configurable - this offers much the same options you would find on one of Permobil's other powered wheelchairs - after all, you have just as much need for comfort and support when off-roading as you do when driving around the house.
As well as being built in your size, the Corpus seating system comes with a vast array of comfort and positioning options; popular ones include the market-leading Roho Agility backrest, and Bodypoint harnesses to keep you secure in your seat.
Powered seating functions including tilt, recline and a seat riser are all available as upgrades - tilt is particularly useful to keep you stable when tackling gradients.
The seat on the X850 can rotate 180°, making getting on and off your powerchair easier than ever.
Our Verdict
Permobil's X850 is a dedicated outdoor powerchair - it excels at tackling rough ground that conventional models cannot cope with. Most people who have one will get a second wheelchair for indoor use, as like any dedicated all-terrain wheelchair, the X850 is normally too big for use around the house (although the Magic 360 is designed for both highly capable off-road use, and more conventional driving indoors). However, the X850 is not just about its drive performance - it features outstanding seating, comfortable and supportive for use throughout the day.
We highly recommend the X850 as an all-terrain powerchair. It's got a great blend of performance and comfort, in a tried and tested design that comes with all the Swedish build-quality you would expect of Permobil. We've tested it out thoroughly, and the X850 has a great drive - it's responsive, flies up and down kerbs, and feels safe even for more nervous users.
If the X850 is beyond your budget, then we would suggest considering Meyra's Optimus2. It doesn't offer quite the same levels of performance, but is still a very capable all-terrain powerchair with prescriptive seating.
