FAT Wheels

FAT wheels are the best-known off-roading wheels. A direct replacement for standard 24 inch wheels, they let you tackle adventurous terrain with ease thanks to the enhanced grip and performance of the chunky 4 inch tyres.

Product Description

The FAT Wheels enable you to take your wheelchair off-roading on terrain conventional wheels can't cope with. They can handle gravel, forest tracks and snow with ease, while keeping your conventional wheels mud-free for use indoors. These come as a pair of wheels; single wheels are also available on request.

The wheels are built on a 507 mm FAT rim that has an offset hub to space away from the wheelchair sides. Designed as a direct swap for standard 24" wheels, they come complete with 1/2" axle pins (12 mm pins available on request) and black powder coated handrims. Scwalbe Crazy Bob tyres come as standard, with a wraparound tread made from Schwalbe's offroad racing compound, enhancing grip and performance, and with the strength to protect the sidewalls.

Off-road wheels are usually paired with a front attachment for your wheelchair that takes the front castor wheels off the ground, as they have no chance of handling off-road terrain! In particular, they work well with handbikes such as Alber's E-Pilot.

Our Verdict

FAT Wheels are rightly known as the industry standard for off-road wheels. They offer good value given their impressive performance and durability. If your budget can stretch further we would suggest trying out the Loopwheels Extreme as well, as these are great off-roading wheels with in-built suspension.
