The Dietz Sango Junior Powerchair comes in two versions to carry users up to 75kg. Dietz have combined their Sego Junior seating system with the Sango Advanced which becomes the Sango Advanced Sego Junior and the Sango Slimline to offer the Sango Slimline Sego Junior. The modularity of the Sango range of wheelchairs, means that every component on top of the base drive unit is identical to the Sango Advanced. Specifications on the Slimline Junior are similar to the Advanced Junior, although not surprisingly, you'll find a narrower width and higher seat adjustability on the Slimline version.
The SEGO Junior seating system
The SEGO Junior seating system provides excellent support and comfort for younger or smaller users. It offers a wide range of seat and backrest options, including various cushion sizes, different finishing materials, and foams, precisely tailored to fit a smaller body. The system also features ergonomic seating and positioning, including contour anatomic formed seat board, thigh supports with powered adjustments to the seat lift, backrest, tilt and legrest and controls which can be programmed individually to suit user needs. The Junior is crash tested according to ISO 7176-19 and approved for passenger transport in a vehicle.
The customization options and choice of chassis colours ensure that the Sango Junior not only provides tailored support but also allows users to personalize their wheelchair according to their preferences and individual style.
Choice of Drive Types
Dietz's Sango Junior is available with three different power bases:
Sango MWD - Available on both the Sango Advanced Sego Junior and the Sango Slimline Sego Junior, a mid-wheel drive offers the best manoeuvrability, ideal for those making extensive indoor use of their chair. The Sango MWD is no slouch outside, and combines excellent traction with high levels of comfort.
Sango FWD - Front-wheel drive is not the most intuitive for those new to it, but is widely considered to offer the "best of both" with a balance of excellent turning for indoor use, and large front wheels to help overcome obstacles outdoors. Unfortunately this is only available on the Sango Advanced Sego Junior and not the Sango Slimline Sego Junior.
Sango RWD - Rear-wheel drive is ideal for those focusing on top-notch outdoor performance, with excellent traction. It steers extremely steadily, even when driving at high speeds. Sprung front forks are available as an optional upgrade for even more comfort, as is a kerb climber that aids overcoming kerbs of up to 9cm. Again, this is only available on the Sango Advanced Sego Junior.
Our Verdict
The Sango Junior, in its Advanced and Slimline versions, provides a lot of scope to find the powerchair which best suits your personal needs. The Sego seating system is incredibly flexible and provides for a wide range of adjustments, options and customization. For a similarly narrow base the Zippie Q300 M Mini Kids powerchair is worth a test drive and the Karma Leon F Kameleon presents a FWD option you might want to explore.
