Seating Assessments

Wheelfreedom provide a seating assessment service for those needing high-level pressure care and postural support from their mobility equipment.

Benefits of Seating Assessments

This service is primarily aimed at those with a configurable manual or powered wheelchair who have clinical seating needs, and who need to ensure they receive the appropriate level of comfort, support and pressure relief. However, for those who desire them, we are also able to provide clinical seating assessments for more basic wheelchairs, rise and recline chairs and mobility scooters, although this is not normally needed.

We are able to provide seating assessments at our Chessington showroom, which features a private assessment room including a plinth and overhead hoist. Our full range of seating and positioning accessories will be on-hand to assist in the assessment.

For those unable to travel to us, we can also carry out seating assessments at your home address, across London and the South East of England.

Cost of Seating Assessments

A seating assessment by an experienced Clinical Assessor carried out at our Chessington showroom costs £250.

A seating assessment at your address costs £500.

This fee covers the assessment itself, and provision of a summary report.

Assessments by Occupational Therapists

While our assessors are experienced in providing seating solutions for customers, an OT assessment adds an extra level of expertise, ideal for people with the most advanced clinical needs. In particular, people at high risk of pressure sores, or needing complex postural support may benefit from a medical professional’s perspective.

Our Partnership with Health Care Professionals and Occupational Therapists

We are partnered with a team of world-class, hand-picked, professional Occupational Therapists. With decades of experience, our OTs are familiar with a vast amount of conditions, including head injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophies, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and motor neurone disease, as well as working with people from all age ranges and backgrounds.
